i got to work on with the city administrator. we need to take care of the infrastructure in many ways and we are loving our parks and why we want this great investment to continue and this is another small yet important addition. we will have $35 million more of that with the connection with the port and the next bond so it serves as a great example how we use the park bonds to of benefit of all of our users and residents and especially because we want our southeast sector to continue evolving in a positive way for everybody. it has been a trial for many of the residents here for many years because of the leadership of the different agencies working together with environmental advocates to make sure we strike that right balance we can have the spaces used for the different use and it is enjoyment of the environment at the same time for the residents. thank you for being here with this announcement. we get four things out of this. a dog run, heron's head park with the landscape and wonderful access to it. we have the literacy for

i paid the police department and the city back. we put this together with a group of volunteerses, the original command center. the wonderful volunteers that exist in san francisco. not people advising you but people coming here doing stuff and they represented the great cross section of san francisco. had two retired school teachers who came to this temporary building everyday for five years, and provided administrative assistance. they were wonderful. one of them was mary louise green. dave ebberly -- you haven't heard that name. he was the guy bouncing around and i found out he was the volunteer driver of the emergency vehicle that we had which was parked in a fire house at the other end of the city and get a call at 2:00 o'clock in the morning and get in that vehicle, and i later learned -- i'm sorry dave. i didn't understand at the time. it was manual transmission and manual brakes and i wish i could have hired him and he he is and somebody was smart enough to bring him with when they had sufficient funds. i was assisted by th

[music]. thanks to the stern grove association they renovated the concert meadow. it used to be a rolling grafsy area. put in a new stage and stage building. they put in terraces. we get from 8,000 to 12,000 people. and the meadow next to the concert meadow is full of people even though they can't see the music they hear it. i walked into the meadow several times and they don't even care. we do have literally events going on day and night. the concert association has kids days during the week. the performers come out for hundred 200 kids. now, the truckadero truc

so, these are very sobering challenges that we have as a city and county of san francisco. and, so, it is within this context that the d.a. and the commission on the status of women went to and proceeded to get a grant application with our department of justice. and i will first and foremost thank president obama and the department of justice for recognizing a big gap that we have, a gap that is reflective of our multi-culturalism. and, therefore, this specific $650,000 grant is really to fulfill a huge gap that we had when we are looking at immigrant families. we're looking at particularly latino and asian families, but immigrant families who, for many years, we knew that we were not getting the right level of reports, the right level of services because of the cultural gaps here. so, this is targeted and aimed at that gap. and it is, i think, very telling that we have our immigrant families stepping up and feeling confident in this city that they can work with all the community agencies that are involved here, and really try to help us end domestic violence because that's

for the city and for us, it was a glorious day. well over a million people coming into the parade * . we encouraged everyone to use public transit as much as possible. and we put into effect a coordinated plan with the other city agencies to get people to use transit. the plan included bringing in all the pcos and the proof of payment staff, closing mission street so that it was for our use only. having people out in a variety of public service positions to provide people with information, putting extra service out to run rush hour trains all day. we put people in stations. and we also had brought dpw into our departmental operations center to help with, in particular, with street closures and also at the break of the parade to go behind. i think there was a couple of things -- we motorized all of the trolley coach lines in order to make sure that nobody climbed or threw anything up on the electric wires. and that seemed to work very well. and the dedicated lanes worked very well. i think next time we'll continue to refine the staf

here is a look in new york city where nor' easter has dumped wet snow on a city that is still recovering. it is from the devastation of super storm sandy. tonight's storm has crippled happy roads and delayed transit service. and there is concern that will knockout some of the power that has just been restored once again. >> it is truly exactly what they do not need. a different situation for us. >> we do have changing weather. sandhya patel is here with the full forecast. >> dan and carolyn, how about a taste of winter coming early to the bay area? starting tomorrow we will see some major changes. right now doppler 7hd is just showing some cloud cover. higher clouds moving in right now. santa rosa is reporting some fog. it is dense to a quarter of a mile. so it could include patches of dense fog. as we look at the radar, here is the storm system. it is approaching the pacific northwest. they are already seeing the showers beginning to approach. this is the storm that is working its way toward the bay area. it will get here tomorrow. temperatures in the 50s and here are the highlights. co

he is very familiar with the incredible work that spur does with the city, because of his work as a city administrativor,a lot of us from his vantage point of the mayor's office. i would like to recognize the department heads and elected officials. i know i've seen some of you here. thank you for coming out to support the fund workover our city employees. it is a privilege to me in particular to be here because i have had the opportunity for the last several years to be on the selection committee for the good government awards. it is really a treat. as a human-resources director, i get a lot of bad news. some of that gets in the newspaper. with all due respect to our brethren in the press, it's always a good story to write about bad behavior that may happen in a city department or that a public employee may have engaged in. we are the largest employer in san francisco. it is only natural as some of that bad behavior may fall on our doorsteps. it is refreshing to see some of the wonderful work people are doing, who really personify the ethos of san francisco. i want to celebrate that. on
